Jaybarker Returns!

My good blogging buddy Wes sent me a unforseen package filled with some team bags of Tigers I did not own, and now I do!

Finally gaining some ground on Cabrera in my PC overall number, Cabby jumped past Trammell this week and leads by six (and counting). Slick Tram!

This blue Victor add to my rainbow collection of VMart, the highest yet of all 2014 Tigers.

Donnie Freakin' Kelly, super utility man!  Anyone else see DK run head first into the right field wall in San Diego Saturday night?

This is a SP, I ordered it online.  I have a suspicion Max will re-sign with Detroit

There was a ton more from Wes, boosting the PC well over EIGHT THOUSAND, thank you as always, I will be sending you a return pack soon

Cards that are new...

A part of my recent LCS splurge also added these new Tigers

According to the shop dealer, these were unloaded by "The guy with the #1 PSA collection of 1968 Tigers and is now upgrading to all 8's" --- cool, these are now mine.

Knowing that next season's Heritage will be poor (1966 has a completely bland, no awful design) I am working on completing these original team sets.

Minor Revolution

I had a plan.

I was going to head into my LCS this spring break and attempt to make my own value blaster, like most of the blogosphere has bragged about, you know, what can you get for $20, ending up with better cards than your run o' the mill blaster.

So I had a plan.

Six thousand pennies worth walked in the door.  I was going to get whatever the LCS had of 1963, 1964 or 1965 Topps Detroit Tigers to fill my team needs.

Somehow I wound up walking out with three boxes of 2013 Heritage Minor League.  What can I say?

I am a complete sucker for anything Heritage!

Needless to say, I will have some trade bait to post later.

I am 12 shy of the master set, those 12 being all SP.

201, 203, 204, 205, 206, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 216, 221

I should have close to another base set if anyone is interested, please take a look at my want list and make an offer. If you would rather have a farm set of your favorite team, let me know.

I had a plan!   Oh, well.

250 - Three Cards at A Time

I have had that Johnny Cash song in my head "One Piece At A Time"

The reason: I have gone through at least three eighty count boxes of PWEs.

Normally, I spend Sunday morning sipping on coffee & zipping up three to four PWEs and send them on their way.

Never really put much thought in to the process, other than to get cards to people over the course of the last year and a half, as I have no use for cards that are not Tigers.

I may be building my own Cadillac of a personal collection of Motown Kitties, but it appears "At three CARDS at a time" others are as well.  And others have been very generous via the PWE.

Tigers on the Wall: 7,971

Getting behind on blogging and keeping track of the Tigers PC.

March has seen set building take precedent over Tigers, should hit the 9,000 mark sometime in late fall.

Cabrera is within 1 card of overtaking the overall player collection total standing 260 Alan Trammell, 259 Miguel Cabrera.  Looks like a splurge on Sportslots is in order to put off the inevitable.

Trammell GEM 10 - again no movement here this month due to Heritage set building.  Stuck at 3.

Team Sets - Acquired master team sets of Heritage & Opening Day.

Opening Day has some great inserts this year.  Still looking for those blue parallels.

There was more help from 2x3 Heroes, Nachos Grande, and Jaybarker's Junk this month!

My Best Card

I found a nice 1962 Topps Al Kaline at the LCS that I couldnt keep my eye off.

For about a month now, I have been itching to acquire it.  The owner then compared another 1962 Kaline displaying how crystal clear the Kaline is in.

Clearly my "best" card to date.

A PWE for me!

Two of my trading buddies hooked me up with some needed Heritage --- which seems to be drying up around here with a completely empty bin for singles packs at Target, no hanger, I have seen zero blasters. It may be a sign.

Coco from Nachos Grande

I think 2x3 sent this Rasmus ---- which also doubles as scary mullet card of the year.

Thanks guys,

Teddy's Ball Game

Today will be spent on tradition.   I will head toward Flint to participate in the 29th Annual Flint Rotisserie League Baseball Draft, possibly the oldest in the state of Michigan.   It's a great league. highly competitive, and loads of fun.  The draft will be intense as these jokers know what they are doing.  A 5x5 (Homers, RBI, SB, AVG ---- W, K, SOLDS, WHIP, ERA)

I have a new strategy this season, which ended up me dumping most of my roster,  I will have the most money, but also need the most players.

Teddy's Ball Game is the my team, named for my eldest.

I kept one slugger...

Chris Sale is the ACE

Banking on Ivan Nova having a solid season

Joakim Soria for 2 bucks and Nate Jones for 3 round out the keepers.

Hopefully I will have a squad to brag about in the coming hours.....

And that is how it's going to be...

I realize this is woefully late, life gets in the way.  But it's now officially spring break on the Hot Corner, so you should see some greater activity.

In case you missed it....the Tigers won Opening Day with a 4-3 walk off win, thanks to the newly acquired and grizzled veteran Alex Gonzalez.

In the second edition of the 2014 Tigers, yet another walk off win, in extra innings.  This time to Ian Kinsler, the new number 3.

Tigers are 2-0, first time they have had consecutive walk off wins to start the year since 1901, they're first season!

I have said all off-season based on the acquisitions  made by Mr D. that this will not be your routine power Tigers, this team is finally resembles a squad to manipulate the cavernous Comerica Park.  There may not be a player outside of Cabrera that hits over twenty dingers, but they're going to win, and win alot.

Speed is going to kill teams.  It may hurt those expecting tons of home runs, but this is the way it's going to be ---- small ball, steals, aggressive running, in turn with solid defense and the stud pitching.

I have a feeling this is going to be a fun year.
