Night Owl Strikes Back

The Night Owl struck again, I had requested a certain gold foil Stadium Club Tiger from a recent blaster of his, and he sent it right away....he also knocked off a majority of my remaining wants from this season's Heritage base.

A Cardshop Delivery

My good trading buddy Dan from It's Like Having My Own Cardshop sent me a house warming gift this last week full of Tigers.

It is always a pleasant surprise walking up to the box of mail, to look inside and find a mailer delivered and this one had plenty of good cardboard to fill in some needs.

The finest .175 hitter in all of baseball, who's father is the General Manager!

And that's not even half of it, thanks Dan!  Send some sunshine this way!

The Wolf Man Cometh

Dave Dombrowski was an outstanding General Manager for the Tigers, ushering in a new era in Tigers baseball.  He brought in Pudge, Magglio, Miggy, V-Mart, and then a slew of HUGE names --- getting to two World Series appearances.

Now, the reason he is gone is simple ---- the bullpen still is terrible, it's a revolving door of gasoline salesmen.  Tom "Gasoline" Gorzleanny, Ian "Kerosene" Krol, Neftali "F-Bomb 2" Feliz --- this can keep going.

So here we are in August and the state of our pitching situation has dwindled to the point where we have to pay Toronto for 38 year old Randy Wolf, yesterday being his first appearance on an MLB mound in two seasons.

Not a bad outing, but the cupboards are bare and Dombrowski is gone.

The Day the 2015 Season Died

I was stung by three hornets today, sat through the entire MLB trade deadline with little to no fanfare...and saw the 2015 Tigers go....

Goodbye Yoenis, Price and Soria

All short time acquisitions built for a great 2015.

This is not a post of mourning!

Let's take a look at what the Tigers have lost and now gained for a brighter 2016

Traded Price to Toronto for three pitchers --- Norris ( I live in a van down by the Wal -Mart!), Matt Boyd, and Jairo Labourt (the the t is silent)....all Lefties!

For Soria we got JaCoby Jones

We traded Porcello to Boston for Cespedes AND Alex Wilson (who has been the most reliable relief pitcher in 2015, which says a ton) in addition,  from the Mets we got --- Michael Fullmer and Luis Cessa

Addition by subtraction?  Tigers won Thursday, and lead the Orioles 6-5 as I write!

Of Course, Topps! Of Course!

I was reminded by Sportscards from the Dollar Store's lastest post that I had a "pending" redemption with Topps for a 2013 Topps Heritage Minor League card, this one sans auto.

Wait, I moved!  Topps needs me to update my info! I have only been waiting over a year and a half, surely they haven't.....they did, they shipped it.  To be delivered to my old home.

Of course now, I will have to decide whether or not to go back to the old house, talk to the new owners about wrestling this little gem away from them.

Timing is everything I suppose.

Of Course.

Getting settled in the new crib.

The hot corner is buzzing.  Johnny' Trading Spot sent the first House Warming Gift (I know there is more coming, right?)

Thanks Johnny!

Moving

To say I have been less active on the blogging scene is kind.

Life has been considerably busy.

As the title suggests, the Hot Corner household is moving.  This has led to less time for certain things and as my desk would suggest, significant piles of cardboard stacking up.

If you want to shoot me an email at bp underscore weber5 AT hotmail dot com for new address please do so.

These 1952 Topps came in as the last shipments to the old place, nice.

The plan is to get back posting once the school year ends this coming Wednesday.

Hopefully the Motown Kitties can start their upswing shortly as well!
