Dave Dombrowski was an outstanding General Manager for the Tigers, ushering in a new era in Tigers baseball. He brought in Pudge, Magglio, Miggy, V-Mart, and then a slew of HUGE names --- getting to two World Series appearances.
Now, the reason he is gone is simple ---- the bullpen still is terrible, it's a revolving door of gasoline salesmen. Tom "Gasoline" Gorzleanny, Ian "Kerosene" Krol, Neftali "F-Bomb 2" Feliz --- this can keep going.
So here we are in August and the state of our pitching situation has dwindled to the point where we have to pay Toronto for 38 year old Randy Wolf, yesterday being his first appearance on an MLB mound in two seasons.
Not a bad outing, but the cupboards are bare and Dombrowski is gone.
